- In the UK, interviewers shouldn't ask about children, pregnancy or family plans. If they do, you can answer about your availability instead.
- After 26 weeks in a job, you have the right to ask for flexible working.

How to say it
- You don't have to mention it. If it explains a gap, one sentence is enough.
- Talk about availability, not childcare: “I can do the hours in the advert.”
- Caring builds real skills (organising, patience, staying calm). Use them as examples.
For example
“I've been at home raising my children for four years. Running a household taught me to plan, budget and stay calm when three things go wrong at once. They're both in school now, and I'm fully available for the hours in the advert.”
Use your own words and your own story. This is only a shape to follow.
